LDB Woodworking
Добавлен 13 янв 2018
My name is Louis de Bruyn from South Africa and I am now a hobby woodworker from South Africa after having a kitchen factory for more than 10 years. I post project videos, shop improvement videos and tips. My shop is a two car garage 40sqm (430sqft).
What's inside the package? Upcoming reviews
I unpack some new tool arrivals. I would like to get some questions that I should consider during the upcoming review of some items.

I have been asked how long it takes to set-up and pack away the shop to get the car in the garage. Sorry for the long video, but I do this in real time to illustrate the time both processes take. Let me know what you think.

Music ⛔
looks great 👍
I liked your idea enough to stand down from my commitment to shut off RUclipsrs that cant get the audio and camera work right - it just amazes me. However, I still gave you a like for the content.
I wish to buy those casters but they are so expensive in our country. It costs a lot really.
Sorry to hear. In my market they are cheap. Around $6
@@LDBWoodworking Lucky for you sir. Our sellers here sell it for about 175 bills for a 3" casters way too expensive. Some are even higher.
What country are you from? Thanks for the video.
Can't understand what you are saying with your accent and the stupid ''music'' playing at the same time, thumbs down
Nice video and idea, but turn out that f### annoying, disturbing "music" totally unnecessary!
Baie goeie idee Louis!!
Thanks for the simple and very useful idea. I am working on a cabinet that needs clamps a few inches longer than the pipe clamps I have. I also like the neat storage solution. Nice work! Henry
I would love to build one of the mobile bases. Would you share the parts list?
It is not common to see a 3/4 inch back board cabinet, but i like this. Thanks
Hi Sir, I bought the same host kit artikel 533478 which contains twe adapters 19mm and 38mm. The separated kit I saw in your presentation: I do not find exact the same kit. As well this adapters sold by two pieces. The adapter kit model number: 394723, artikel: 2MFG77, it are 19mm ID x 31,8mm UD and 31,8mm ID. Are this the adapters that separate is to order, same as is seen in your presentation? I’m confused because it seem the complete kit within two adapters has already 31,8mm? To be honest I do not understand ID or UD. Thanks for your time.
May i ask why the sides that take the weight are not screwed up from the bottom panel. Seems all the weight is on the 8 or so screws.
There is a box at the bottom (kickbox) that is levelled out. The carcasses are then installed on top of this box, which means that the weight is transferŕed to the bottom. In the trade the bottom is always between the sides because the sides are on the kickbox. Hope this helps!
Thanks a lot for the very thorough and well explained analysis. I empathise with you as I live in Italy and had to order it from the States paying more for shipping than for the product itself, but still much less than what festool is priced. As you very correctly pinpointed, this kit provides unique features in terms of versatility, efficiency, improvements in dust collection and health in the long run. Well invested money. Thanks a lot for the great video. All the best. Emanuele from Ancona, Italy.
Nice job! Simplistic and effective. Would love to have seen more detail around cutting the square tubing and fitting in the bearing. Maybe a diagram for that. Possibly even a reference to the size bearing you used.
Thanks for the vid don't feel so intimidated about using melamine 👍
Maybe repost without the shite music or stop mumbling
Dip the tips in hot water for 10-15 seconds then insert.
Excellent way to make the lathe more useful!
Awesome! Thanks for the great design tip. Definitely doing this for my new work table. I'm curious what you used for the center pivot point. It's hard to see what the rounded part between the two washers is or how it's attached. I also assume those are standard 4" stainless door hinges. correct?
My ID port split at the end right down the middle as soon as I put it in my sander :( My sander is 1.5in and the ID port was 1.5in also and it split with the outward pressure from the sander port :/ My guess is that the product had been sitting for a long while now and the rubber dried up in the shelfs and it cracked on me. What do you think?
sketching whilst explaining the design. simple and great. thanks mate
I really like your video. Can you tell me what you do if hanging on a wall? How much weight would you feel comfortable hanging. What screws would you use to screw through the back into wall studs. Are you afraid the screws could be pulled through the melamine? I
We have brick and mortar 99%of the time so I anchor with nail in anchors 6mm x 70mm long. I have never had a cupboard fall off a wall. Remember, a large percentage of the force is straight down (shear force) so no problem with head pulling through the backing
Hi! Could you tell me where you bought the wheels and the frame, and how much weight can they carry, please? Thanks in advance
Wheels are from Gelmar. I believe the weight is rated 60kg per wheel
Great looking shop...
Great idea. However it doesn't show how they r made, only how they work....
Absolut genial!! :)
You just saved me A ton of work! Thank you for the idea
Woodprix has very good designs and plans.
Woodprix are plagiarists copiedplans from others!
I did it myself. I used Woodprix woodworking plans for this.
Hi Louis. I have a question for you. When buying those flatpack kits, the sometimes come with those large blunted bolts that slot into a circular "nut" of sorts. Think they are called screw-in dowels. For floor to ceiling cabinets, would those add enough support to be worth the hassle, or not really?
Hi Francois. In my opinion those "knock-down" fittings wotk for flat pack solutions to assist with streamlining the assembly process on site, even for less experienced assemblers or for units where it may need to be disassembled later on. Strength wise they are OK, but the time it takes to get all the holes drilled does not make sense to me because I can easily screw units together in less time. Usually those fittings require production machines to drill the holes fast ans accurate, which I dont have. If you do the cabinets yourself and it is a permanent fixture, I wouldn't bother. But that is my opinion.....
@@LDBWoodworking Thank you. I thought as much, but thought it worth asking. That would involve making jigs and measuring those out for a limited use situation as it is for our kitchen only. Thank you for the advice and great videos. Hoping to see new ones soon! Keep it up!
This time I will use Woodglut plans for this.
I really like the Woodglut plans.
You might want to get rid of background music in your future vids. I could only hear half of what you said.
Nice workshop Louis
Good Thing! Please sirch off the music! Thanks
Great idea but keep us informed how long that plastic block works for ya just kidding no need to I do really like the over all idea though
Hi how do you hide the screws on the outside of the cabinet on a end that is visible?? Thanks for your time
Just add another sidepanel and screw iy to the cupboard from the inside. That way you hide the screws. Usually I make that second sidepanel wider so that it it flush with the front of the door.
@@LDBWoodworking nice. Thanks for your reply
I have those exact clamps (same...6 of them! )and today have run into a problem while making a workbench top, where the pipes I have aren't long enough to clamp all the pieces together. You have just saved my bacon! Thank you for taking the time to share this idea - it's exactly what I needed! Best wishes from Brisbane, Australia!
Fantastic! Glad it is helping people out there. Thanks for the comment. 🙏
Whenever I need to make something for my shop I either sit down with paper and pencil think about and draw schematics on how to build it myself or I just look it up where a smart guy like you has it figured out already.
That won't lift my 800 pounds table saw :(
I like this design. I just got the casters the raise/lower one at a time by stepping on them. Yours are tucked away very nicely where mine stick out a bit.
Nice approach, considered the same solution some time ago. Needed approx 1,6 m. for at table top and did not have that long clamps. My conclusion at the time was just to use 8 of my ratchets. Very flexible with respekt to length (no limitations at all), and also very cheap. And they take less space than yours:) But your solution is more professional, so keep up the good work!
Ja Swaar ek mis die simplified Suid Africaner approach - sommer lekker om you accent te hoor - alles van die beste !
Lekker man! Dankie vir die goeie wense. Groete daar.
@@LDBWoodworking kom kyk as jy wil op my website www.aerglideusa.com, maskien is daar ideas wat jy kan gebruik :)
Great job! just made some myself for christmas :)
That's a tip of a lot more than a week. Very impressive!
Terrific design, simple and I love it. Can you please provide plans for it? After several hours researching all of the great ideas online your lifting mechanism would best fit my needs. I am new at woodworking and now building a multifunctional workbench that can be moved from an outside gravel surface onto my concrete carport floor using 5" w/brake casters. Keep up the good work. Thank you
Thank you so much, great solution.
Just what a searched for ! And South African 😊 same materials 🎉
Hi, very good movie. Do you use HDF board as a back of your cabinets?
No, I used 16mm melamine for the backs - the same as the rest of the carcase.
